Island Folk Pottery
A collaboration of love and imagination
Mission
To nurture wonder, connection, and joy through handmade art, storytelling, and a fairy trail that invites visitors of all ages back into their imaginations.
What Lights Us Up
Island Folk Pottery is a collaboration of love between my husband, Bill O’Callaghan, and me. Together, we are building and tending a magical fairy trail in the Chilmark woods – a free, open-to-the-public experience designed to awaken whimsy, quiet the noise, and spark childlike wonder in anyone who wanders through.
Bill’s whimsical sculptures form the heart of the trail, and I have the joy of supporting the world-building through writing, poetry, layout, stage-setting, and quiet philosophy. From tiny houses and creature scenes nestled among the trees, to signs, rhymes, and gentle invitations to play—I love shaping a space where magic feels possible again.

What It Teaches Me
Island Folk Pottery shows me how powerful collaboration can be when it’s rooted in love. It reminds me how setting a tone – visually and emotionally – can invite people into a shared world.
Through this ongoing experience, I witness how art, story, and space can work together to uplift others. I see that joy isn’t always loud – it can be quiet, tucked into the woods, waiting for someone to stumble upon it with an open heart.
Since opening the trail to the public during the pandemic, one truth continues to grow:
Abundance comes in many forms.
The appreciation, wonder, and joy our visitors bring make Bill and me feel like the wealthiest artists around. It’s a kind of richness that no bank account can match—and one we are endlessly grateful for. It’s a kind of richness that no bank account can match – and one we’re endlessly grateful for.
